This winter on Lake Tahoe has been one for the ages. Above normal temperatures and below average precipitation. Only real affect on Fishing has been the moon phase. As we enter “New Moon” Fishing has been excellent with Mackinaw being caught in 20-120’ of water. Trolling and jigging light tackle techniques have been the most productive and always the most fun. Temperatures have been lows in the upper 20’s at night with highs in the mid 50’s during the day. In my 50+ years in Tahoe this has only happened a couple of times. It is clearly having a positive affect on fishing the big lake with above average production and size.
South Lake Tahoe Fishing has been a bit inconsistent with most fish being taken in front of Zephyr Cove, NV on the southern portion of Lake Tahoe.
North Lake Tahoe Fishing has been phenomenal in Carnelian Bay, CA. Fish are deeper in the North End of Lake Tahoe with most productivity in 120-180’ of water.
